When it comes to laying Natural Stone driveways or patios in blocks, setts or slabs it
must be laid to withstand the pressures of use and last. This is where our wide knowledge of
concrete and methods come into its own.
The basics of a driveway in natural stone consist of 100mm of membrane of Type 1
compacted. 100mm re-enforced concrete pad,2-5mm bed of specialist slurry. 50-60mm of
normal or specialist bedding material, a bonding slurry can be added to each slab or block at
this point. Depending on the joint size usually 5-10mm of high strength specialist grout is
used and cleaned using our heavy duty sponge machines. This process is not for the faint hearted
and specialist knowledge and experience is crucial.
Artwork- Over the years we have worked with and laid various artwork from pieces with
stone engravers and designers. These have varied from large individual 2m2 slabs weighing
400kg plus, to engraved monuments and benches all in natural stone. Or large pattern artwork
20m x 20m to small mosaic work.
